We have been working all summer to prepare our project’s four main workshops that will take place this October and December in South Australia, Finnish Lapland and Murmansk, Russia. We will tell more about that in the next posts.
This post here is to let you know that we have extended the application deadline for two of our end-of-the-year events that will be held at the University of Lapland, Rovaniemi, Finland: a seminar and an artistic workshop under the same title “Narrating the Marginal”. The new deadline is now September 15th 2016.
The seminar on experiential knowledge and empowerment in artistic research will take place on the 9th December. It will feature keynotes from Professor Nithikul Nimkulrat of the Estonian Academy of Arts, Professor Jaana Erkkilä and Professor Eija Timonen of the University of Lapland. We are looking forward to your short notes on the topic. There will be a publication in digital form and print following the seminar.
The artistic workshop will take place from 5th to 8th December and will serve both as a platform for artistic expression and an important source of research data for our project. We are looking to work with artists and makers of various disciplines, observe their creative processes and explore the topics of marginality and empowerment with them. The artistic outcomes will be exhibited at Arktikum, galleries Katve 1 and 2, as well as in selected public locations of Rovaniemi.
